The Apple of a Techie's Eye

Techies everywhere are in a state of euphoria today; Apple has unveiled its long-rumored iPad!

The newly-released device will initially be priced at $499. It is said to resemble a very large iPhone.
Apple intends to sell some of the new units with AT&T data plans, but no contract will be required.

The iPad will have to compete with many already-available products, such as Internet-connected cell phones. According to Apple CEO Steve Jobs, the iPad will be superior to laptops and smart phones for playing games, reading books and watching video.

Charlie: That new iPad is the BOMB! I hope papa gets one soon.

Annie: Mama might not be too happy about that. She always gives papa grief about always having to get the latest, greatest “toy”!

Charlie: But the iPad is so much more than a toy! When the weather gets nice again, papa and I could hang out on the screened porch and surf the web, watch movies or just sit quietly and read a book.

Annie: YOU sit quietly and read a book? Who are you kidding?

Charlie: Okay, maybe THAT was a stretch. But, all the other cool stuff still applies!

Annie: You DO paint an appealing picture, but I don’t think we’re ever going to get “screened porch weather” again. This winter is relentless!

Charlie: In that case, we can all huddle up by the fireplace and do all that neat iPad stuff.

Annie: Now, how can we encourage papa to run out and get an iPad?

Charlie: Oh, I don’t think it will require much arm twisting; I see he’s on the Apple website right now!

Annie: Cool!
