As if New Year’s Eve isn’t crazy enough, this year there’s a full moon and it’s a blue moon! As a full moon by itself seems to breed a certain level of insanity, hopefully this won’t cause people to go over the edge with their New Year’s revelry. And a blue moon to top it off…Yikes!
Actually, a blue moon occurs on New Year’s Eve once every 19 years. A blue moon is simply the second full moon to occur in a calendar month. They happen approximately once every 2.5 years, with the last one being in May, 2007.
Annie: I can hardly wait to see the New Year’s Eve blue moon! Do you think it will be as blue as our eyes?
Charlie: The term “blue moon” doesn’t mean the moon actually turns blue, silly.
Annie: Ohhhhh…Well, I knew that. I was just testing you!
Charlie: Yeah, right!
Annie: I just hope everyone takes it easy and doesn’t go overboard; you know how nutty people get on a full moon anyway and with it being New Year’s Eve, look out!
Charlie: I agree. Let’s just hope that everyone has a happy and safe New Year!
Annie: Cheers!
