Oh, Mummy!

Cat Fact: Cats are obligate carnivores. An obligate or true carnivore depends solely on the nutrients found in animal flesh.

We came across a story today that said scientists have found evidence of heart disease and clogged arteries in ancient Egyptian mummies. And they didn’t even have fast food to blame it on back then! Relatively speaking, maybe our modern lifestyles and eating habits aren’t so bad after all compared to our ancestor’s. But that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be a good idea to adopt a healthier diet.

Charlie: Humans are funny!

Annie: How’s that?

Charlie: They have a couple of cheeseburgers and their health goes all to heck. We eat nothing but meat and our tickers are fine!

Annie: We evolved as obligate carnivores, humans didn’t.

Charlie: I think they’re just “soft”!

Annie: You think mama and papa are soft?

Charlie: YES. And I don’t just mean physically.

Annie: Why?

Charlie: Well, all we have to do is sit at their feet looking up at them with our big blue eyes and belt out a hardy “MEOOOOOW” and they give us whatever we want. It’s not even a challenge!

Annie: Well, I hope they eat healthily and are around for a long time because I love them!

Charlie: Me, too! I’m just saying…..

Annie: I must say, though, that it is rather unappetizing to watch them eat salads!

Charlie: Green stuff is disgusting! Give me a nice piece of protein!
